About The Fifth C
Free, accurate Singapore personal finance calculators. No sign-up. No paywalls. No sales pitch.
What Is The Fifth C?
If you grew up in Singapore, you know the 5 Cs: Cash, Car, Credit Card, Condo, Country Club. For decades, these were the unofficial scorecard of success — the benchmarks by which Singaporeans measured themselves and each other. Get all five, and you had made it.
We think there is a better fifth C: Contentment.
Not complacency — contentment. The kind that comes from knowing your numbers, understanding the system you operate in, and making financial decisions that serve your actual life goals rather than inherited expectations. You cannot be content about money if you do not understand how CPF works, what your HDB flat really costs, or how much stamp duty you owe.
That is why we built The Fifth C. We take the official government data — CPF Board rates, HDB transaction records, IRAS stamp duty tables — and turn them into calculators that give you honest, precise answers. No upselling, no vague ranges, no "speak to a consultant." Just the number.
What We Offer
Twelve free calculators covering the financial decisions most Singaporeans face:
Our Data Sources
Every number on The Fifth C comes from official Singapore government sources or published bank rate sheets. We do not estimate, interpolate, or invent figures.
CPF Board
Contribution rates, allocation ratios, OW/AW ceilings, interest rates, and retirement sum figures (BRS/FRS/ERS) are sourced directly from CPF Board official publications and the CPF Act. The 2025 rate changes were announced in Budget 2023 and confirmed by CPF Board circulars.
cpf.gov.sg/employer → CPF Contribution Ratesdata.gov.sg — HDB Resale Transactions
HDB resale transaction data comes from the official Singapore government open data portal, dataset
d_8b84c4ee58e3cfc0ece0d773c8ca6abc. This dataset
contains 232,000+ records of actual resale transactions from January 2017 to present, and is updated
by HDB daily on business days.
MAS & IRAS
Stamp duty rates (BSD and ABSD) are sourced from IRAS official stamp duty tables, last updated April 2023. Home loan benchmark rates reference MAS-published SORA and bank-published fixed rate packages from public comparison sites.
